House of Absolut

For one week over WorldPride, a local Sydney pub was transformed into a celebration of Ballroom through an immersive exhibition.

Curated by House of Silky founder Xander Khoury, we took over the community pub to create a home which felt nostalgic and familiar to the Ballroom community. An inbuilt dance studio allowed the community to explore Ballroom for themselves, while trailblazers gave lessons to young trans people who were exploring the Ballroom scene.

The space became a thriving hub of activity as members from the Ballroom community across Australia & NZ claimed the space as their own, for their own.

Instead of creating a wrap video, we pushed for a mini-doc (optimised for social) which examined the impact of Ballroom in Australia.

Extension PR idea

Agency - Clemenger BBDO

Absolut asked us to provide an idea for Sydney WorldPride that only Absolut could authentically activate after 42 years of unwavering support to the LGBTQ+ community.

We needed to demonstrate that Absolut does more than BAU pink washing by giving the community the funds to create something for them by them.

Introducing: House of Homes: a interactive exhibition curated by Sydney’s rising stars of the queer Ballroom scene.
